【社長日記】ホルヘさんメキシコに帰国

2022年から3年間、当社で働いてくれたメキシコ人のホルヘさんが帰国されることになりました。メキシコ人って陽気な人と言うイメージを持っていましたが、ホルヘさんはまさにイメージ通りの陽気なメキシコ人でチームのムードメーカーでした。今日まで本当にありがとうございました。

ホルヘさんが日本に来てよかったことをプレゼンしてくれたのですが、面白かったので共有したいと思います。写真とコメントは本人提供です。日本に住んでみたいな、と思う人の参考になればと思います。

まずは日本の風景編。白川郷が好きで、ファミリーがメキシコから遊びに来た時も白川郷を案内してあげていましたね。それから富士山。そして広島本社に来た時に寄った宮島。などなど。

それから日本の新しい文化。デザイン「あ」展、チームラボ、ワンピースのジム、スカイツリーとジョジョのコラボ、雪まつりのゴールデンカムイなど。

食べ物は、原宿のピザが気に入ってるってことでした。北海道では豚丼がおいしかったと言ってました。あと、クマちゃんが解ける鍋とか。彼はあまり魚が好きじゃなかったので、寿司とかそっち方面ではないのですが、食べ物はおいしかったようです。

入社したばかりのときに、私と私の息子とホルヘでキャンプに行ったり、一時期は会社のメンバーとボルタリングにはまったりしていましたね。最近はジムの筋トレにはまっているようでした。

Harajuku Spontini Restaurant. It's not japanese food, but this place has amazingly good pizzas.

The Tokyo Skytree is maybe not the best option to see Tokyo from high up in the sky but they sometimes have events which makes it worth to go and check it out.

Enjoying the Autumn and Winter by going to light shows in parks or going camping is a great way to enjoy nature and good views. (Just be careful because it can get pretty cold!)

Bouldering is a pretty famous sport all over the world but Japan has so many strong athletes and a lot of bouldering gyms all over Tokyo.

The Brag Men One Piece Gym is a great place to go and work out, especially if you are a One Piece fan.

Kumachan Onsen is a shabu shabu restaurant in Shibuya with a really cute way of serving you the dashi, just be aware that you will see the cute bear slowly disappear in front of your eyes.

This might be one of my favorite photos that I have taken while living here. Full clear sky with an amazing view of Mount Fuji with everthing covered in snow.

The Kaiyukan aquarium and USJ in Osaka are a must if you are travelling to Osaka or Kyoto. I do personally enjoyed USJ more than Disney Sea

The views of Miyajima from the coast, from the boat and in the island are amazing. The agemomiji manju is super delicious, and I think my favorite omiyage from all over Japan are the momiji manjus from Hiroshima.

My favorite town in all of Japan is Shirakawa-go in the Gifu prefecture.

For an interesting onsen experience, Kusatsu Onsen in the Gunma Prefecture is great place to go, just be aware that the entire town smells like sulfur.

Going to the Yuki Matsuri in Sapporo might be one of the best experiences I've ever had, all the food was delicious, the snow statues are incredible. The Royce Chocolate factory is also a fun and interesting experience.

Even though is not in the in the sea, you can get on a ship at Lake Ashi in Hakone

Live Stages are something that a lot of people do not know of and as a foreigner that is not living in Japan is really hard to get into, but this events are crazy fun.

Happy Pancake in Harajuku has incredibly good pancakes, it's super worth the wait, just make sure to arrive early because the line gets super long really fast.

While you are around Harajuku, don't forget to check out Graniph, super interesting and fun designs for clothes.

Everything in Fukuoka is delicious and cheap! Maybe next time I'll use an airplane instead of spending 17 hours in a car hehe.

Playing Mahjong with friends is a great way to pass the time and have lots of fun

There's a lot of exhibitions in Tokyo but the most interesting ones I have gone are the Design A and Team Lab Borderless
